Being a complete mechanical idiot, can you explain to me how that clutch works please, (in small words), & what does the sign say? No parking?

Hunter got it right! a vee belt goes from the engine to the alloy disc, so that when you accelerate the brake shoes inside expand  gripping the drum with the cog on it that connects to the back wheel and off you go 8)

do you know what the revs required to throw the shoes out is or are you just gona wind it up and blast off when it hits the magic number?

that maybe doesnt make sense

No idea ::) and yes Blair ;D I think when it engages is largely dependent on the strenth of the springs that hold back the shoes :-\
