Was chatting to Thrud in Wales via email this morning -the guy I got the free Honda from. We were saying we could sponsor a chimpanzee at MonkeyWorld in Dorset. Somehow don't think we could have one named Manky, but would be fun to have a plaque on the enclosure saying Sponsored by Manky Monkey Motors  I'd want to be able to visit & take it out for rides on the trike though, take it down the pub & buy it cakes -a bit like having Flap as a mate.Â

By pure coincidence, a workmate went to MonkeyWorld yesterday, so he brought me back a sponsorship form. We could "adopt" a monkey for a minimum donation of 30 quid a year. That gets you a photo, a certificate, a quarterly newsletter on their progress & a year's season ticket, (free entry for a year on production of the pass -nothing to stop us posting it to one another). Looking down the list of primates & names, I see there's a Chimpanzee called Micky. Anyone up for contributing to a year's sponsorship of Micky Manky Monkey? We could send him a MMMotors T shirt with the donation & ask for a photo for the website!

Yep! You can count Dave and I in. I could dress him up in jeans and a jacket and take him for a ride on the enfield. Does he make good cups of tea?

Last time we went to the zoo, one of the monkeys was doing obscene things in his cage.

Maybe we could organise a MMMotors run to visit him in the Spring?

I'm up for sharing in the cost of sponsoring!
Let's have a rideout in the spring and you can all come back to mine for BBQ or sausage sandwiches depoending on the weather!
Monkey World is only about 6 miles from me.
Dunno if we'd get away with posting the membership around - but they must have some kind of arrangement for sponsorship by a group rather than an individual?

That sounds like a good idea Bobbi. Make it our first proper MMMotors run. Would give some of us a chance to get some transport organised! Adult sponsorship- 30 quid minimum donation. Group sponsorship, (30 members max.), 120 quid donation. 1 free entry pass. Doubt we could raise 120 quid between us, though I'm happy to chip in more if we want to do it that way. Probably better off doing it in one person's name & making use of the season ticket if we can -maybe leave it with Bobbi as she's local & collect it from her when needed? I've got a 2 page list of all the apes & their names if anyone wants to choose a different one. Micky was the only vaguely Mankyish sounding name on the list. He's an adult chimp in Paddy's group, (there are 4 different groups of chimps in different enclosures at MonkeyWorld). He was used as a photographer's prop in Spain. Let me know what you want to do people & I'll fill in the form & get it sent off.

Better see how many folks want in, Manky, then we can divide the cost accordingly. I'll start a list and folks can cut n paste and add their names.....

Do you reckon they'd let us have it for a weekend to teach it to weld?
