Radiator hoses
«

Hi All
Having done lots of engine swapping and odd conversions over the years ,Ive always chopped and joined hoses by using a tube sleeve inside and jubilee clips ,or used some convoluted hose. I now want to build nice looking hoses for the trike ,but without all the ugly jubilee clips .Seems to me that watercooled engines in trikes always look tatty in this area, unless of course you 'do a manky' and run the water through the frame !
Im on a quest to make the hoses look good.Im thinking maybe use a tube sleeve inside at the joins and butt the hoses together on the outside ,then superglue the hose ends to the sleeve ,and also to each other on the outside? Anyone got any other ideas?

Just looked at Car builder solutions website...Stainless overbraid (which will cover the joins in the rubber hose) plus anodised end finishers £72 for the 2 hoses !!! W-a-y too rich for me!I'll keep looking....

You could probably wire the hose neatly using a tool as in the link, not to hard to make.

What about some silicon hose.

I have used the wire 'trick' in the past ,tho' not as complicated as that site..just a single 'coat hanger' thickness wire with a twist,to get me out of trouble if a clamp breaks. I'll look into that a bit more.I need hoses with preformed bends cos some of them are tight,so the silicone wont do. Old fashioned car shops used to have large stocks of hoses, and I would often ask to rummage through the stock to find summat that worked. Will have to go to my local factors and have a look round.

You can get it in loads of pre bent angles

Rubber hose is also available in various angles, but still would have to be butted together to form a complete run ,eg.. water pump to bottom of rad. What Im trying to get around is having to join it with ugly clamps. The original hoses wont fit my custom application.

You could make your own `hoses` from more tube, painted to match the frame and use the shortest possible length of rubber hose to attach them.

If you use the silicon you can use these.
