Im reasonably competent at wiring,but whats bothering me is the msva requirements for it. Things like what warning lights are required,is a kill switch reqd etc etc.So ,has anybody a list of whats required? I have already got a lot of wiring through the frame,but am now at the point where Im thinking about routes for wiring from this to switches/warning lights etc. It is also affecting the way I finish certain parts. Here's a link to the MSVA manual (don't know weather it's the most up to date one). Seems apart from Lighting in section 6, the only other part remotely connected to electrics is about wiring and is at section 14 parts 9&10.

Ive just read through that manual ,(thanks PH) Im either not reading it right,or there isnt any detailed info in there! Im now even more confused! Wheres the best place to find out stuff like warning lamps required,position of switches etc etc?

HI Rodeo there is a description of were your lights go if i remember rightly the indicators, main beam, reversing, all need warning lights a battery isolation switch will be an adequate anti theft switch(red key)and 4 way flashers also speedo must be illuminated hope this helps

Road vehicle lighting regulations will tell you which lamps are needed and if any tell tales are needed too. To be honest tho Rod, its common sense really, Andy`s sticky will tell you the lighting requirements and the tell tales will be the same as any car, main beam, indicators, hazards. Switches will need to be positioned where you can reach them from the riding position, thats all. You dont need a kill switch, but i would fit one because my ignition switch is mounted on the battery box and not easy to get to in an emergency. As Alan has said, speedo needs to be illuminated, and you should have an ignition light to enable the alternator to work correctly.

Thanks to Byzmax for the info,and everyone for the input. I now need to get hold of a set of h/bar controls,as the set I bought, I removed some of the wires to allow switching of lights from elsewhere on the trike,but now find I need the switches on the bars. Anyways,what bikes should I look for at the bike breakers that will do the job,or do they all have the same switch layout,eg r/hand has certain switches ,l/hand has certain ones? Also do the switches run direct or go through relays? Sorry for stupid Q's ..not a biker! Rod

Pick the ones you like. They should all work fine except for Harleys and such like that have separate control modules. Relays are not an issue if required. Cheap to buy and easy to fit. Jap bike ones are reliable honda (c90) step through mopeds (crunchies) are good for controls as they can be poilshed and look kinda retro. Just make sure you leave enough wire to graft on new bits.
