Had a few days off over the last month but still been plugging away slowly. Was having a nightmare on deciding on how the cooking would work. On these the fan is on the back of the dynamo in a housing. Due to the body drop the housing was hitting the body. I spent ages looking at running it open, different oil coolers, running squirrel fans etc. In the end I just cut it out, shaped the grill and stick it back in. It means I can run the engine with stock bits and the fan housing site in line with the back window so Is aesthetically pleasing.

They’re smaller ones which are normally used in drag racing. No idea why called a squirrel fan? They squirrel the air away maybe?

the racing fans arent ideal for normal traffic. dont really move enough air at idle or lower revs

Starting to get the bulkhead finished. I made up a piece with a ridge so it could be spotted in to the existing bit. Then messed up cutting the existing bit so now it’s just welded where it can be. Doh.

It’s amazing how rigid the car is now, considering you used to be able to push it and it wobbled like a jelly

Is the body still bolted to the floor pan or welded now?

It’s bolted so the plan is to split it next month and get all the welding on the body done. It’ll be easier without the floor pan etc in the way.

Then I can also work on the pan without a body in the way too. Might be fairly together by the end of the year maybe

Again forgotten where I am with this. Waiting on some steering components I ordered in September.

I’ve started on the bonnet latch, as it had nothing due to being all cut out. I did a tube with the latch off the front beam. I was going to do 2 but it’s sturdy enough you can lift the car off the ground, so will probably leave it / tidy it up when the bodies off. I’ve got to make a bonnet cable guide too as that’s been cut away, so the cables not under tension meaning the latch isn’t latching properly.

The body is a bit twisted/ on the wonk hence it looking not parallel to the beam, but it catches perfectly

A friend folded me up the seat raisers I needed, so I should be able to get the passenger seat in this week, and redo the drivers ones which are a bit over kill.

I also sorted out the big hole in the drivers door and smoothed out the top hinge. Unfortunately the door latch has taken a bit of a beating so needs replacing as it’s not springy anymore.

Had some plate folded up to act as a seat raiser. Got the passenger seat bolted in and sliding. Need to get some spreader plates welded underneath, but mock-up is good.
