Can’t remember where this got to again. Had the DD shaft machined down and tigged into the column so that’s all strong. Steering only works dunnit.

Got some universal seat runners, but if the seats mounted straight to it, the angle is no good and the seat is too low. I’m making up some blocks which are 3 inch at the front and 2 at the back which should work nicely for the seating position. They will bolt in between, but I might end up welding them to the runner.

Nearly called in again today Archie, but figured you'd be busy. I collected my radiator at about 3.30 this afternoon.

Ah fair enough mate. Yeah we’re still mega short staffed and the general public are still on a buying frenzy, so can’t nip out at the moment unfortunately

If you’re up Friday I’ll be in the workshop about 12-1 but I guess you may be at work still

One side nearly done.

Bit of a gap between the runner and block, but will be putting in a rubber which should take up the difference. Or might end up welding it to the runner anyway

So once the bolts were tightened up the gap reduced a lot. Pretty happy with the results, but might get someone to redo them a bit nicer down the line.

Also it steers, but needs a bottom support bearing on the column to stop it twisting, but coming together a bit

Again can’t remember what’s what and where I am in here.

We were looking at the height and trying to figure out why the axle adjusters weren’t raising the ride height whatever setting they were on. Turns out it had some of the leaves removed which would allow it to sag for a lowered ride height.

Pulled the beam and arms to clean up before rebuilding with new leaves and seals etc. I was going to paint it all, but remembered I need to make headlight brackets to go on yet so have left that for now.

The bottom arms have the shock mounts on them, but as is typical with these the insert on the shock welds itself to the arm. I started to cut one off but it was being a pig so ended up using the oxy to get it hot enough to move. I then had to fill one with weld and knock back as I’d cut into the arm.

Also the bolt mounts on the beam are just pressed and spot welded in place with a big gap, so I ran some weld across the gap to seal it / beef it up a bit.

Just need to put the arms back on and it should be back on it’s wheels.

I've looked at those suspension set-ups several times & still don't really get how they work.
Progress though mate. I was wondering how you were getting on.

Yeah leaves that rotate to set the height and kind of link both sides.

Got your message will try not to forget tomorrow. It wasn’t showing that I had an unread one and no email. Weird.

Back on its wheels today now the ride height adjusters work like they should. Currently set to the highest setting -

Picked up a 2cv headlight bar last night. I had lights already, but was struggling on how to mount them as they sit in cups which allows them to swivel.

I was going to cut the ends off and weld them to the shock towers, but the frame is curved and it looks like it will wrap onto the beam nicely.

I need to straighten it out a bit, but pretty happy about it overall
