It’s sat on the lowest setting currently on the adjusters so needs to come up a bit.

Body is channelled over the pan too so the floors not at the height luckily. Bonnet might take a bit of a beating though I guess

It’s not so low it can’t get on a trailer.

It’s now up at my works workshop, so hopefully things might move on a bit.

Crossmembers propped in and offside one starting to be welded in. From there I can start to build up a tub / bulkhead

Started tacking in the bent up piece. Not particularly straight due to all the shapes on a beetle and real thin old metal. Also cut out an old repair to redo. Once that’s done it should be onto the other side to do the same again.

Cut out the old quarter repair I did as it was pretty mangled. Then treated the rust on the frame behind it with converter. I also went over the bonnet and other patches to just make it not look so ropey

Is this how low you want to run this on the street?  Can you not fit airbags?

Ride heights not been decided yet.

Rear quarter shaped and tacked in

Haven't updated on here, but have been tinkering away. will put some photos up at some point but they're pretty boring

Started on the other side of this and one big problem was the heater channel. We'd already cut and welded it once, but it was still too long and sitting too far forward. So braced up the door gap, cut the thing out, cut the head off it, cut 10mm out of the length and rewelded it and bolted back in. Now sits where it is supposed to.

The body is sitting on the wonk a bit and it looks like if I take another 2cm out of the C post it will drop down and sit just a bit nicer.

On the other rear quarter it's pretty much welded in and i put a piece in the inside to come across from the channel to the quarter and it has just stiffened all up.

But yeah this is a nice exciting part as it's back to moving forward again
