Love the herald - we used to have a green/white herald hardtop coupe, lovely car even if it did cost us a fortune having the chassis outriggers replaced cos they were rusted through....

Yeees that got us into bit of trouble in a narrow Welsh lane once - ended up stuck across the road with the front stuck on one bank and the rear stuck on the other!

I used to love the fact that you can climb into the engine compartment and when you`re vertically challenged like me it`s a great help to get nearer to the engine.

Two stories.

Many moons ago at the old Aldershot stock car track, they sometime used to run 'public timed laps' during the meeting, where Jo Public could bring his/her road car onto the track and be timed.

Someone brought on a Vitesse/Herald (it was a long time ago....) and managed to roll it on a tight corner when the suspension tucked in..... ouch!


Back in the early 70's a guy at my my school built a Daimler (I think) V8 powered, supercharged Vitesse with adjustable rear suspension (from the the driver seat).
Used to do my paper round and slow right down just to have a good look-see.
