 Chris brought over the exhaust system from the Reliant Scimitar that donated it's chassis today. Amazingly, it fits almost perfectly under the Moggy body. So there'll be twin tailpipes tucked up under the rear bumper.

Err yes Andy, storage was what my iPad decided I meant and I didnt notice until after I had posted. At least using the iPad my typo's are becoming legit words instead of gibberish  I like it as well, looks right. I am getting these strange urges to get a P5/P6 Rover or an old Humber or such like, do you think its to do with my age? |

The Scimtar chassis is 10" longer. Width seems to be spot on.

Having welded a fill-in patch in place of the sunroof in Nick's VW Golf circuit racer, (apparently sunroofs aren't allowed in the regulations), he wasn't happy with the results. So he opted to buy a complete new roof section, moulded in fibreglass. I had no idea you could even buy such a thing. Fit & finish look pretty good & it's amazing how light it is compared to the original steel. With the original roof cut out, the new one simply sits into the gutter rails & is bonded in place. Simple as that, though Nick's worried it'll put him into a different race class for modified cars.

Chris drops into the workshop for a couple of hours after work every afternoon & has most of the chassis outriggers in place on his Moggy now.
He cut the bulkhead out to get the engine in, but now wants to replace as much of it as he can to keep the car looking original. So he's welded in the top section, but the lower part will be removable, held with Deuz fasteners, for engine removal.

He had to notch the bulkhead corners to clear the engine rocker covers, but built them up with weld, then spent a whole day sat at the bench with a Dremmel drill, grinding the radiused corners. It's all about the details.
