you guy's going to be there thursday afternoon next week?? I have a free day and the wifey's car so plan to come down to collect those moggy wheels and my Pop's new rear lights.... going to bring a mate with me... he needs to see more hotrod/trike/bike fab in the flesh.. |

Shaun & his mate came to see us a few days ago & we compared notes on our Pop pick-up projects. Good to see you buddy. The 'shop's been busy lately. Loony's picking up more jobs now, but there also seems to be more mates around at weekends, working on their own projects. Chris has rebuilt the framework above the rear axle of his Reliant Scimitar chassised Morris Minor, as well as adding strengthening plates either side of the centre section, where the chassis was cut & shortened. The plan is to drop the standard 4 door splitscreen body over the top of this to create a "sleeper" -a standard looking old car with a big ol' motor hiding under the bonnet. The 3 1/2 litre V8 looks suprisingly at home in a chassis that originally held a V6. |

Reliant Scimitar chassis. They had seperate chassis & bodies, unlike modern monocoque cars. Technically it's a rebodied Scimitar, which you're allowed to do & keep the original registration. Depends how many changes he makes along the way. If it gets too modified it'll need BIVAing.

You can add mounts & outriggers to the original chassis, providing they don't compromise the structual integrity of the original, but you're not allowed to cut bits off.
Most of the work on the back end is just repairing rust damage. A heavy coat of black chassis paint slapped on to ward off new rust until the chassis is eventually shotblasted & powder-coated.
