this was an email sent to me. 'stand by me' may not be what you would listen to but the way this has been done is well worth a listen.

Awesome music conquers all barriers. A cello player in the slums of south Africa ?
Just sit back and enjoy the music .

         AWESOME!
Below is a link to one of the best pieces of sound engineering.
This is a video of street performers from around the world being recorded,
Overlayed and mixed with one another while singing the song "Stand By Me".
It is a marvel to listen to and watch.  They all deserve to be heard.
The finished product is tremendous!
So turn up the speaker volume http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=2539741

Pretty damn fine music............I'd think if I were there I'd stand in awe for ages. Good you-tube clip Mr Toad.
Was impressed by the upload from Mr R as well, amazing concept.

Manage to catch some 'unknown over here' artists at small UK venues, in a way its a bit of a lottery as to how much you like what they do (even more so before the interweb thang), but if you're lucky, you leave at the end of an evening being blown away by what one person can do with a guitar.

These musicians might appeal:
Louisiana Red     http://www.louisiana-red.com/index.php?id=2
Rory Block   http://www.roryblock.com/
Little Toby Walker    http://www.littletobywalker.com/
Kent Duchaine    http://www.kentduchaine.com/

And there's some astounding new blood too, in particular a young lady called Joanne Shaw Taylor from our very own shores too.
Baffles me how so much soul can come from someone so young, great vocals and amazing guitar playing.
http://www.pigs-ear.biz/jst/index.html   (in fact she's supporting 'Black Country Communion' http://www.bccommunion.com/   in London on their first tour at the end of December, and they have the extremely talented Joe Bonnamassa  http://www.jbonamassa.com/index.html  in their ranks).

Been into his stuff from (I think) 1996 when he was in a band called Bloodline after watching a TV doc about him, which is now viewable on you-tube.

This band are playing a local-to-Guildford gig in Feb 2011, hadn't heard of them till a flyer came through the door. The reason I decided to put the clip on here is becasue of the inclusion of the Hot Rod (which I've seen in the flesh at Goodwood a few times). Make your own mind up...
