Taz & I have just spent a very convivial evening in the company of a hundred or so local hotrodders & bikers at Derek & Pat's sprawling woodland plot in the Surrey countryside.
We arrived fashionably late as always, but just in time to witness the firework display, provided by the Surrey Street Rodders. Very impressive. We all oohed & ahhed in the traditional firework way. Whiff had spent the previous day chainsawing down a huge tree, to provide the bonfire.
Derek & his good lady run a fleet of auto themed catering wagons, which gives them an excuse to indulge their passion for hotrodding. This evening their latest creation, a jumbo teardrop caravan shaped burger trailer, towed by a vintage pick up truck, was on hand to provide free jacket potatoes & hot drinks to the assembled masses. I can recommend the curry & cheese spuds. Delicious. A free bar was set up in one of Del's many barns, with live music provided by local covers band, The Senators -& very good they were too. Almost as good as the free cake & mince pies the catering girls were handing out.
Lots of familiar faces there- Ian & family from Wyliez Customs, Billy from North American Motor Company, the guys from Sickboyz Customs, Richard, his wife & colleagues from the Mustang Workshop & many others.
No piccies of the fireworks & only blurry snaps of the rest of the evening -our digital cameras really struggle in low light, but you get the idea.
A great evening. Many thanks to the SSR & to Pat & Deadly Derek for making us so welcome.
