Yup, a big thank you to the boys & girls of the Surrey Street Rodders for another well organised, interesting & fun day out -& it didn't cost us a penny.
The trip was re-scheduled after being cancelled because of heavy rain a couple of weeks ago. In contrast, today we were treated to bright sunshine, so it was worth the wait.
The run consisted of a series of directions, with clues to be found along the way. There were several stops enroute, visiting local hotrod workshops -fascinating to see who's building what & how many shops there are in the Surrey/Berkshire area -you'd never know most were there unless you had directions. We called in at The Mustang Workshop, Andy Robinson Race Cars & Wyliez Customs, where a free lunch was laid on courtesy of Derek's latest "teardrop" burger wagon. In the workshop, members of the Beaters car club were busy roof chopping a '50 shoebox Ford -maybe not just for our entertainment, but very interesting to see in progress.
Then it was on to Milestones Museum in Basingstoke, Hants, where we got discounted entry.
Taz & I rode in Renegade's faithful old Triumph saloon, so another thank you to him for chauffeuring us about all day -as a small token of our thanks we gave him the box of chocolates we won for getting the most clues right -after we'd eaten half of them.
A really enjoyable day out in good company. Can't wait to do next year's run in our own hotrod.
Thanks SSR.
