lighting question

The light controls on the BFC bus are FUBAR  and I need a cheap way of modifying them to get them working again

One wire is feed in, one for side, one for dipped and one for main. I think I'm going to try wire in a different switch rather than trace an original stalk (all the other controls are fine)

Any suggestions for a replacement?

I presume that I need on that will switch on side lights, then side/dipped, and be able to switch between side/dipped to side/main. I tried recreating this last night but found the side/dipped curcuit wouldnt work - any suggestions?

What type of jalopy is it? Not that it really matters, wiring is the black art no matter what vehicle!

Bit too modern for me! Might be easier to get one from a scrappy, otherwise you need a switch that has three clicks on it, if ya know what I mean! or you could use a whole bunch of toggle switches and have one for sidelights, one for dipped and one to switch to high beam! Think this would possibly be the most complicated and involved way!
But then someone might post who isnt quite so scared of electrics!

I'll ask my mate Reg, owner of a lathe in his shed & wirer upper of Manky trikes.
We spent an hour or two the other day -during the only rain shower we've had here for weeks, stood outside getting wet, trying to figure out why the radiator fan on Rainbow's little Corsa didn't work. Tested the thermostat switch, tested the fan, checked all the wires. Eventually checked the fusebox -no fuse! Must've been like that since she bought the car. I hate wiring.

Right.  You need to get an original diagram for the beast before you start chopping it about. However, Normally lights work like this

Notice that dipped and main beam are not connected at the same time!


There are probably relays and diodes in the circuit that operate the lights but duplicating the switch layout will fix the prob.
