mine was £371 3rd party fire and theft. 4000 mile policy, but I don't have a speedo I'm 24 with 3 years NCB and had my licence since 2009 (should be longer but I lost it in 2006) So if you're a bit older with more NCB should come in cheaper?

Carbs make a big noise when they pop off don't they.
It's not fuelling right and I couldn't get the carbs back on.
Taking the car tomorrow now which is a shame.
Shakedown 1 - failure, with me pushing it back for a mile and a half.

Possibly the wrong carbs for the year of engine as they are a bit tight to get in.
Retards (snigger) probably not right hence the hesitation on the throttle

All part of the fun of customising Archie -keep telling yourself that while you're pushing. The Mikuni carbs are designed to be suspended between the inlet manifolds & the original airbox, (between the side panels). By taking the airbox away, they now just hang on the rubbers & only take a bit of a mis-fire to "burp" themselves right off. Mine used to do it when I was sat at traffic lights -not cool. See you at the show tomorrow.

Mmm needs a trip to Dynotech I think.
Pod filters and straight through pipes probably no good for the jets it's on

Shakedown 2 success. Was furking about trying to make anbracket to hold the carbs on until it humped me off enough I welded a tab to the spine of the frame and to the carbs top plate. Went up to the fleet lions classic show to see what would happen. It's only 2 miles from home if that so perfect! Fuellings not right still and will put it down to the jetting as even with the choke on it's struggling to idle and round roundabouts I'm slipping the clutch to stop it cutting out. Guess it could just be the idle needs winding up again. Got to the meet and hid it in the corner away from the old stuff and instantly got swarmed by people. Managed to get away and just kept glancing over every now and again and it constantly had people round it. The best bit was a family of Gurkhas taking pictures of each other with it. So I guess my bike is going to crop up on someone's facebook somewhere. Archie's XS Archie's XS I got back and it had cracked my pigeon sh1t welds off the carb tops so needs redoing until I can be bothered to do something else better to hold them on. Overall not a bad ride. Not as bad as I expected - The springs on the seat absorb a lot of it. It just seems to vibrate through the bars really badly.

Vertical twin motors tend to vibrate a little! so you should use anti vibration mounts for your carburetors, "Silentbloc" bushes in prefabricated holders work fine. You should also keep in mind that the simple carb. is not an instrument of the Devil, and if you just stick to the very basic principles of carburettor set up, particularly with respect to the effect of main jet size, and its relationship, and overlap to the remaining carb. functions, the need for costly, and often pointless Dyna-whatsit set up becomes irrelevant. You will do no better than acquiring a copy of a very old book called "Tuning for Speed" which should reveal all. I should add "very old" in terms of you youngsters, whereas for me I still have the copy I purchased in the 50's!!! say no more.........Morrag

I do believe it should be simple - straight through pipes + free flowing filters = bigger jets needed?
The joy of it going to Dynotech is it goes away and comes back fixed and lovely with a rolling road printout.
