They are a mix of pop browns, dunno what part number, and some range rover ones. I would just use rangie ones when I next do it, they are big an chunky. What about Land rover ones? Might be the same thing?

Yup, Mr L's right. One of the knuckle joints came from Chris at Pop Browns -someone identified it as an early Ford Escort one. The other was donated by one of Loony's mates & is a Rangie one. The splined shaft is Range Rover too I think. My memory's lousy but I would've mentioned it in my Pop build thread.

Check back in my Pop build thread Shaun -my memory really is that bad, but we didn't re-spline anything, so it must've fitted.

Grin At least you only have to read them. I have to write them too.  Tongue
Once the Pop's on the road, I'm going to collate the forum stuff into half a dozen chapters, (chassis, bodywork, brakes, steering etc), & post it on the main site. Hardly a definitive guide to building a rod, but it should give readers some idea of what's involved, warts 'n' all.

found it  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

" So. The modified Pop steering box has a splined end welded onto it's shaft, to hook up to a universal joint bought new from "Pop Browns". On the other side of the joint is another splined section welded into the end of a Range Rover shaft. That pushes into a Range Rover universal joint. On the other side of that is the cut off splined bit of the Rover shaft, welded into the bottom of the Moggy Minor column. Easy.
The Godawful lumpy welds on the ends of the shafts were smoothed off with a sanding disc on the grinder, then I drilled through the joints & pinned them with 4mm engineers dowels, welded at either end.

Well, if it were me, I'd go to my local tool shop -a proper tool shop, not B & Q.  Smiley
Got one near you? Or want me to pick a length up from my local?
