Tuesdays - Weekly - 6th April to end of September

Yes it is that time of year again!  Hard to believe another year has passed by.  Poole Quay Bike Night starts the first Tuesday in April and continues through to the end of September.  They usually let you in about 6pm but sometimes they allow you in a bit earlier and it is worth getting there earlier especially when the weather is fine and lots turn up or you end up being parked miles away.  There is a place for trikes but that is getting full pretty quickly and there is also a place for disabled riders with Blue Badges.

I think it will be £1 per night or £6 for a season armband if you are quick enough to get one on the first night.

The weather was annoying at times last year but there were some glorious Tuesdays too and the turn out on occasions was quite spectacular with a soundtrack of a constant roar of bike and trike engines.  I had some great times down there last year (if only the journey getting there was not so crappy because of the traffic) especially when I was able to take the trike down.

For those of you further afield, it is worth making the effort at least once especially if the weather is very much guaranteed.  How many Manky members could we get down there at one time?

See you there, JJ  Grin

I don't get down there often but if I do Gertie will be parked in the disabled area or failing that in the general trike area.

Fine weather all day brought the riders down to Poole for the first of the year bike nights, JJ rode down on Her trike early to miss the mad rush at 5.30 entrance to stake Her claim on a front line position in the trike park for that quick get away come dusk. Roll Eyes

Yes, weather was lovely and I enjoyed the ride.  On my way home, loads of Harleys were behind me.  I expected them to pass the first chance they had but they stayed with me and I led a nice little convoy.   Grin

Whether it was because it was the first night or the sunny evening but everyone was in good spirits and there was a lot of camaraderie on the roads and on the Quay.  I particularly enjoy that side of being on a bike - mind you I like that aspect of being with Hot Rodders too as generally they are a friendly bunch.

The Ducati Rick photographed actually won Bike of the Night.  It does look good.  Oh well if it couldn't be my trike then I suppose it was a worthy winner!! Roll Eyes

Hi,
Went down this week to Poole Quay (20th).  Wanted to give the trike a decent ride because it had been in the garage earlier and had the timing done and a general once over.

It went pretty well once I could get going as the traffic to Poole is pretty dire at that time of the evening.  My photography is not that hot but took a few pics on my camera phone.  We didn't go down last week so I took a photo of last week's winner.  Turns out it sparked quite a bit of discussion!  Huh  I left before the night's bike was chosen.

The evening was well attended with some very bemused holidaymakers looking on wondering if they had come upon a Hells Angel rally!  Grin   I chatted with a fair few people I had not met before which is nice and I bumped into some old friends but I didn't stop long and managed to ride home in the light - ooh I love these lighter nights.

Fine weather for the past few days made a good turn out for tonights Bike Night on Poole Quay, although bikers didn't stop for long empty spaces soon began to appear along the front of the pubs and food outlets.

Another good evening for the weather, but a poor turn out of Bikers just a few photo's to browse from the small cc machines to the mega machine, 8.0 litre V10 Viper I thought this was a tidy machine compared to a Boss Hoss.

That's Allen Millyard's bike. He lives near Basingstoke & specialises in building multi cylindered bikes by splicing two engines together. Some of the specialist welding, including adapting the car wheels for bike use, was done by BKI Welding in Newbury, Berks. I often blag off-cuts of steel from them.

That FJ with the tassles from the previous week - I saw that parked up locally and meant to get a pic, never seen such a weird combination!   As for it getting the 'bike of the week' - can prolly be explained by the fact that the people who choose are often completely unconnected with bikes!
