fan switch  i must have come up with a dozen or more idea,s for a tempreture controlled fan switch for my trike build

  but

 i,m not happy with any of them  either because of cost  or practicallity or uglyness

so

any monkey,s got any ideas  all input gratefully received

Hiya Mike,
on my last trike, which had a rear mounted Fiesta radiator, I used one of these inline thermostatic switches from Merlin Motorsport

Not cheap I guess at about 50 quid, but worked well & was adjustable. Most modern cars must have something similar fitted though. Flap's orange trike & Muffin's black one just have on/off switches, which are left on nearly all the time.

Why not fit a switch in place of the temp transmitter?
or fitting a hose joint, like Andy did, drill and tap a hole and screw a standard fan switch in?

yeah  tbone i,v been thinking along those line,s  but was also thinking of fitting a capilary type temp gauge but now thinking about keepig things simpler  might make a new thermostat houseing top with a temp switch in it

IMHO I think a thermostat on the fan would be better,as although you will probably hear the fan running and therefore know its on or off,its easier to let the thermostat control it once you set the temp. Just another thing not to worry about when riding!Also one less guage to find a position for I s'pose!The Car Builder ones have a thin capillary which fits between the hose and the stub of tube on the rad,then you re tighten the hose clip. Ive used one before on my Locost.

our richard my nephew is an electronics bod   says dont bother just put an ordinary switch on it  but i,m still studying all options Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

the anoying thing is he says its ,,dead easy,, for him to make a thermostatic switch to fit anywhere

 i dont think he can be arsed  and  after the amount i,v done for him    Shocked Shocked

I think Flap's & Muffin's had on/off switches so they could be flicked off while they started the engine then put back on again. More or less hard wired, just with the option to shut it off if needed.
