Heres my probs...(sorry about pics quality).........
 1) I have new pads/recon calipers/new discs. When the pads are fitted  the caliper wont fit over them! I believe the caliper piston winds in/out? but I cant get it to go in any further than as it was set from the reconditioner.
  2) the discs (altho in the pic they arent straight ,as couldnt hold them and take the pic at same time) are VERY close to the sides of the gap in the caliper bracket!
Have I got the wrong discs? I remember being very specific about them at the factors ,as someone on here even gave a part number ! They are Nova ,but I cant remember if the ones I have are the thinner of the two types. If I have the wrong ones (ie thick ones ) maybe the thinner ones would give more clearance?
Checked back on thread with info ,it says I need the 10mm discs ,which I have deffo got!
 As always ,any comments appreciated!

Visited the factors. Now got the right ones! According to them the MK1'S only had shoes, not pads. Apparently there are 2 types of pads that fit these (and other makes) some are thicker than others by about 2mm. I had been given the thicker ones! Thinner ones now in and fit ok! Grin

I've never been offered the thicker ones so didn't know there was more than one type. All useful info for future reference.

Keep meaning to rewrite the disc brake conversion bit on the main site.
If you can list the appropriate parts I'll sort it out.

Its been a while since i had anything to do with golfs but i think there are 3 different pad thicknesses 15mm which is what you need, then 16 & 7mm which you dont!
