We had a MkI 1600 Cortina with a green go-faster stripe and a matt black go-faster bonnet!
Actually it did go quite quick with a gas-flowed head (we did it on the kitchen table following the step by step instructions in Cars and Car Conversions and twin Weber carbs, lower ratio diff (or was that higher?) for more acceleration, uprated suspension and brakes, full roll cage and a dirty great big sump guard - we were into rallying back in the days of the old Castrol Welsh rally and the like. Big lamp bar on the front with four Cibie Oscars, wide wheels, boot full of spares - and when it got nicked once all that was missing when we got it back was a pair of gloves and a packet of condoms!
Opps, sorry sam, you can have your thread back now!

Still remember my Capri with fondness. White 1.6L, with 2.0ltr GT Cortina engine, 2000E gearbox, 15x7" mercedes 5 spoke alloys, RS front and rear spoilers, lowered, and was very quick with the 1.6 rear axle gearing Also had 2.8injection inspired stripes. The chap it was sold too had a massive crash in it about a week after he got it.

Didn't know you were a star of stage, screen & Practical Classics mate. Nice motor. So is there a Ford dealership at the end of the World then? Eternal damnation & Ford Capris. Scary.
