I was having a conversation with some younger person the other day and found out why what they call R&B doesn't sound like R&B.
Apparently it don't mean Rhythm n Blues anymore - can't remember what it means now but deffo something 'orrible!

I am a heavy metal fan first and foremost though I do like most kinds of music but even I was surprised when I bought Beyonce's recent double album. I think she is really good and has a lovely voice. I have heard others though who sound like that cat you get outside your window about 4 in the morning. Saying that I think there is some good music about at the moment - good lyrics and melody - it is just finding it in the dross that still seems to hit the charts. JJ

someone at work had kiss fm or summat like that on the radio and most of it was just boring dross. it was either female and some male screeching like a cat with its bits caught in a mouse trap. got what i think is a wide taste in music but this was just dross like the boom boom stuff you hear coming out of a vauxhall corsa with halfords alloys on it. i gather vera lynn has topped the album charts

Yup, 92 years old & she's number one in the charts! Did amuse me, especially as 90% of the chart buyers have probably never heard of her. I'm a blues fan -most of the guys I like have been dead for 50 years! Taz follows her Mum's love of classic rock, which is fine by me. Blues may traditionally be very melancholy, but nowhere near as dreary & miserable as most of the stuff I hear on the radio at the moment. Whenever a "classic" track comes on, it's fun & uplifting & gets your foot tapping. Modern stuff -bleurgh.

There`s still some good music around, the trouble is it`s not classed as popular or commercial, the `indie chart` is the place to look, its the custom world of music making if you like, and like all custom things, not everything is to everbodys taste. Although not commercial, its amazing how much of the stuff is used in commercials, two that spring to mind are Bright Eyes & Born Ruffians, both used in recent bank adverts.

the radio in my car just fills the hole where the radio should be. so no music, no distraction. i like some of this 60's garage music which is like 60's brit music. the yanks called it garage, one of the tracks is used in that lynx ad i think its lynx where he squirts himself with the aftershave cos the bird is in her undies. there's also a lot of ska been used in adverts, some original some sounds like newer remake stuff. have you noticed that when they redo albums in digital the tracks seem to lose their rawness. its all too clean, so stuff you listened to don't sound the same. much prefer the raw original product. been putting a lot of the singles and albums onto cd. its nice to hear the odd scratch type noise.

I dont think much of modern music....in my youth I was into rockabilly and Blues...but in my late teens I got into Skinhead and punk......still play that stuff all the time but must be mellowing in my old age as now I like Classic rock to wake me up and get me motivated and Enya ect to chill out to......Voodoo....

when younger in the 60's i was more into the mod scene maybe coz i wasn't that struck on motorbikes. then moved onto the skinhead era in the late 60's. i remember we use to go to the atalanta in woking and stop off at the red house pub brfore hand. that was if we went by train or had a transit minibus from the local taxi firm. the other form of transport was a mk2 consul bench seat column change. 8 in that was just enough to be comfortable. well i was skinnier back then.

Taz has got the original thumb wheel radio for her '69 Charger. I doubt it still works, but with a 6 1/4 litre V8 to listen to, who needs a radio!
