Right then first of all hi its been a while been busy with my new house and work,
heres the thing i am fed up with cars they are costing me a fortune i have a nissan 100nx 1.6 targa Automatic and it does 45 miles on £10 driving it very sensibly and this for me is too much with a new mortgage so i thaught i would buy a smaller car which is less sporty so got a peugeot 106xr 1.4 manual 1996 reg, nice car thaught it would be ok BUT to my surprise it has done 43 miles on £10 worth of fuel so my effors seen to be in vein, my question is if i built a motorcycle trike with a body and a roof and a screen would it be classed as a trike or would it be in the reliant robin classification which you need to insure as a car?Huh?
also do any of you know of such a trike pics etc?
i have just baught a gn250 to do up which do 80-90 miled to the gallon and im thinking trike with a shell for a laugh?

cheers
chris

my guess is that since you yourself have descibed it as a reliant robin then thats what they (  the man ) would also say it was , so then it would be insured as a car and you would be aswell buying a robin and save making one  Grin

Have a look and see if you can find some pics from Autumn NABD rally. There was a 'Bat' trike won a trophy and it has a full body. FJ1200 engine driving the front wheel. Have seen some pics Creature has posted but know nothing else, definately looks like something from a Batman film though.

This is no use for you enquiry but may give you some ideas Smiley

By the way, I would say 45mpg from any auto is very good. My beemer currently averages between 18.2 and 18.7 Sad

i think blair u dont quite understand what i mean as i dont mean making something that  resembles a reliant at all  i was mor ethinking of  a motorcycle trike with a body kind of moulded like a phoenix trike and somekind of removeable roof, the reliant was just the example as it is a trike but has a roof and is insured as a car, oh nabsim i dont mean45 miles to the gallon i mean 45 to £10-£12 of fuel.
nice trike that well spacey,

Jeez that must be around 20 to the gallon, Caz's 3.0 omega auto does about 24 and my old 2.5 Vec auto used to average 30 so long as I didn't rag ir too much. That aint good for a 1.6. Saying that I had a brand new Astra 1.4 auto when M was new and that only ever averaged 24mpg, that was accurate figure as well as it was a compnay car so had to do fuel returns.

My old Beemer did about 16 to the gallon if I was lucky. When Manky was using it to commute back and forth from Guildford to Basingstoke to work, it was about 35 miles one way so a 70 mile round trip and he was putting in £20 petrol every day. I averaged £20 - £30 a day. My Charger when it's done will do about 8 to the gallon so I've been told.

It gives you a nice warm feeling inside to know you are selflessly doing your bit for global warming so all the others can have nice sunny days to ride round in though dunnit? Wink
