I was introduced to a cracking 3d cad programme the other day, its called cocreate, simple registration n then a free download. Not actually got it myself yet as i`m still working in 2d, but if you have ten mins it may be worth a look.

There's allways loads of sissybars/mounting plates etc on fleabay,at a fraction of the retail price. I know you want to make your own but you can sometimes pick up pads etc

cheers. i didn't think to look up just the backrest bit on ebay... the side pates wuld need to be custom, but i'm sure i could make something aftermarket to bolt on as the actual sissybar itself...
