Argh! I was thinking about re-wiring my baby bike - looking at that, I reckon I'll go by the old advice, If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Heh heh! It'll look good when it's done, all nicely covered in braided black nylon sleeving. Most of it runs inside the frame tubes anyway. Reg has used tiny numbered tags on each wire & drawn up a Haynes manual type wiring diagram on his computer so hopefully he's got it all under control! 8 relays & loads of fuses. 80 quid's worth of materials from Vehicle Wiring Products.

Part 2 of the trike wiring tomorrow. I finished wiring the back lights earlier in the week and Reg is coming over tomorrow to do all the confusing stuff, like doing everything else. If all goes well it should ready to fire up on Saturday. Thats if Manky has a look at his engine and tells me what H.T lead goes to what spark plug

I do all my own wiring. It might not work all the time, but it's a laugh trying to remember what each wire does. Especially when you have 6 blues and one red

When my baby bike was nicked and found again not far from our house, the main loom had been cut right through - presumably in anger cos they couldn't start it! So my daughter's electrickery wizardy friend came along to connect all the wires together again. But they were so old that a lot of them looked the same - particularly about 6 black ones, that had in the dim and distant past had coloured lines on them. So when it didn't work, he just kept changing the connections round until he hit on the right combination!

-Aye, 'tis magic. A black art not meant for mere mortal Monkies like us.

Oh yeah but he was a real wizardy type - his job was working for a company that sent him all over the world troubleshooting the elctrickery bits of their highly complicated gas detection equipment, amongst other things!
He was a biker too, with a streetfighter that he used to rebuild on a regular basis, every time he got another idea about a new way for it to look! Haven't seen him for ages tho.....

Reg the 'leccy bloke fits computer operated factory equipment & writes the software, makes the circuit boards up, machines his own parts, all sorts of stuff. So a Reliant should be child's play. I wouldn't have a clue where to start. Never understood electrics.
