Hiya, according to the MSVA manual, fog lights are optional on trikes, so I wouldn't have thought they'd be required for MOTs either. Anyone know differently?

If you have your heart set on one then wiring it up is easy. Youll need a switch ( illuminated ) a standard 4 pin relay a fog lamp assorted connectors and wire The switch, will have 3 connections 1. feed in, this needs to be connected to your dipped headlamp 12v + feed 2. feed out, connect to relay 3. earth, connect to earth
The relay will have 4 pins marked, 30, 85, 86, 87 pin 30 is the live feed in to the relay, so a 10 amp fused feed from the battery or fusebox pin 85 is the feed in from the switch, so connect this to the output side of the switch (no.2 above) pin 86 is the earth for the relay, so connect to suitable earth pin 87 is the feed to the foglamp, so connect to + side of foglamp
the foglamp will have 2 connections a 12v+ , connect to relay pin 87 a 12v -, conect to earth
mount the switch, relay and foglamp in suitable positions, wire it as above, turn on the headlight, hit the foglamp switch and hey presto! one illuminated switch and one fog lamp, thats the "proper" way to do it, but...... you could leave the relay out of the wiring circuit, and connect your switch directly to the foglamp, if your only having one lamp, this shouldnt be a problem except you may need to upgrade the dipped headlamp beam fuse, because you`ll be increasing the amps slightly (21w lamp / 12v = 1.75amps)

Just checked the MSVA manual again. Fog lamps & reversing lamps are listed as "optional", not compulsory.

No probs, but as Mr M says, it is not a requirement, purely optional. Personaly i wouldn`t bother, who needs the headache of extra wires n switches?

Prsonally I wouldn't mind having a foglamp on the trike - not that I often ride in fog but it can happen!
