Was palnning to go to the emergency dentist today but after I started my car it got all choked up and died then I couldn't start it again - nearly but not quite, had to take the battery off to charge it.

And haven't got the clutch cable sorted on the trike either, got it on but it's very stiff and the clutch is slipping, think I've got to take it off and re-route it again!

And can't drive Mike's car cos it's not an auto!  And I was supposed to be going to the Goldwing Owners club to talk about NABD.  I feel a bit bad about that cos nationally they have just donated £12000 !

Still, the sun is shining so I spose I better change and get out in the garage...............

Poor old Bobbi! When was the Goldwing thingy? This evening? Lots of 'Wings on the toy run today. Several of them were trike conversions.

The meeting was at lunchtime - it's the 3rd time I haven't made it!  Still, the last one was cos the meeting was cancelled...

3000 bikes on the toy run today. 92 marshals, quite a few of 'em riding Wings. Not my kinda bike but they look quite impressive en mass.

Not really my kinda bike but the trikes do have one BIG advantage - they have reverse!
Not sure whether it a starter motor type thing, but they deffo have reverse, and I would dearly love to have that on mine!

Our Reliant trikes have reverse gear -& weigh about half as much as a full dresser GoldWing. I always think of them as the Caravan Club of the bike world. Nice people but not my cup of tea either.

Mmm but I do prefer bike trikes even if they are Goldwings!

An undressed wing does look better though!

Had some help with the clutch cable last night, a friend from another forum came round, he drives for a breakdown co and has a trike, been working on bikes/trikes for years, he couldn't sort it either - reckons it's yet another wrong cable!

So it's quite good to know it wasn't me being hopeless, but what a b*gger!  Going to phone the Kawasaki shop and get an OE cable, be cheaper in the long run.  Never had this problem before!

If you've got the original cable you could have a copy made at "Speedy Cables", 01639-732213 or 01639-73229. Next day delivery once they've received your old one, about 20 quid. I have the hand brake cables for the trikes made there.

Thankee Manky!

But I have one on order at Bournemouth Kawasaki, they expect to have it in tomorrow so I can collect it tomorrow afternoon - christmas post permitting!

At less than £17, it was less than I expected.

Just for future ref, is that a complete new cable or just a new inner, from Speedy cables?

Whole new cable. Don't quote me on the price cos I haven't bought one for about a year but that's what I paid last time. They do anything, throttle, brakes, choke, handbrake. Complete with all new fittings unless you've got something really weird they don't stock, in which case they'll make the new cable & re-use your old fittings.  I wanted shortened versions of standard VW Golf handbrake cables so sent 'em a standard one with some scribbled measurements & the next day they phoned to say they were ready. Top chaps.

Put the cable on the trike - the genuine Kwak one, and it fits!

Haven't test ridden it yet , it was getting a bit late, but I'm sure it'll be ok with a bit of fine adjustment - and the adjustment is there this time!

And I figured out what the difference is - when I went out there I measured the cable against the wrong one, it was exactly the same! Inner same length, outer same length! But I knew it had to be right, cos it was a kwak one. The only difference is the length of the adjustment thread at the bottom end! The proper cable has maybe quarter inch more thread - and thats the crucial bit for the adjustment!

So I'll be on the road tomorrow for a test run, and I'll definitely be on the road for the Mistletoe Run on Sunday!

Well done Honey! Knew you'd get there in the end! So when you going to write a piece on your trike for us then? Would be nice to showcase it in the Motors section.

The writing wouldn't take long but I'd need to go thru my phots as well and pick some out and resize them and..........

But I will do it!
