"I copied this from my wanted thread i thought it deserved a thread of its own really"

I chatted to Lunatic this afternoon. He & PD plan to start producing trike frames/complete trikes, so called on Valley Gas Speed Shop, (our local hotrod shop), to see what sort of bender they use. Not sure which make it was, but it's the one sold in the "Speedway" rod parts catalogue. Around 400 quid. The boys plan to buy one in the next few weeks.

Don't think I'm letting any felines out of any pouches by mentioning it. Based on the normal MMMotors hardtail Reliant design -do I get commission?  Smiley
Ska Man & I considered the same thing a couple of years ago but really didn't have the facilities or time to make it pay.
Loony tells me they've already got one firm order for a full trike build. No idea of prices or build times.
PM him if you're seriously interested.

Don't know if Loony was ready to go "public" or just putting feelers out at the moment, but there's definitely a market for well built, off the shelf trike frames if you can get the price right.
Ska Man & I had several apparently serious enquiries from people wanting frames when we were building Rainbow's & Critch's & mine, but they all quietly slipped away when we started talking money.

Its like most things tho, you gets wot you pays for. The frame is usually the hardest bit for most ppl to sort out. Trouble is `general public` dont realise how much time and effort is invested to produce a good frame, i think it`ll be a hard job to get the balance between a reasonable price and making enough money for it to be worthwhile. But i do wish them well and think its worth a go. Next time i get the `oi mate were can i get one of them?` i`ll drag the culprit to this site and point them in the direction of PD & Lunatic.

Thanks guys! Grin
Still a fair way to go yet, as we want this all done properly to avoid as many problems as we can! We are going to produce a manky style frame, with some of our own touches, in erw or cds. Obviously price will vary as to which material you choose. We plan on doing several stages of build, from just the basic frame, still needing foot rests and other small brackets welding on, to a more tailor made frame, then on to a rolling chassis with axle, forks, yokes, bars, etc, right up to a full turnkey build.
The frames will be built in a jig (yet to be built!) as this means we can make them accurately and quickly(ish). Currently Im investigating getting certification for our welding, and also looking at getting a tig welder too.
Once the jig is done we will build a couple of prototype frames for us to use, and so the customer can see what to expect.
Also in the future we would like to find a more modern replacement for the reliant engine as sadly I can see us running out of reliants to butcher at some point!! Cheesy
Thanks for your support guys.

Look at Fiat FIRE engines. The 750 club use them with a piggy box bolted on.
