Like you said, you can say "I had a 69 Charger" so you've been there done that - you'd have been even poorer the rest of your life if you'd kept on with it anyway!

Very true Bobbi.
When I went to the bank to pay the loan off, the girl behind the glass asked where I'd like to transfer the money from -I said from my pocket to your counter, & plonked a big wad of 50 pound notes down. She got really flustered. I said You work in a bank, surely you've dealt with bigger sums than that? She replied Yes, but it's all just numbers on a computer screen -they rarely get people bringing large piles of money in. I was surprised how quickly they cancelled the loan arrangement though. Just a couple of clicks on the computer & it was all sorted. Nice to get it out of the way.
Yeah, I used to own a muscle car.  Cool

yeah  banks or shops dont seam to know what cash is these days ,,and if pc-plod has caught you with that lot ,,they would have confiscated it untill you could legally prove where/who you got it of and where they got it from , Shocked Shocked

They've changed the design of 50 pound notes. About half of mine were the old style & the rest the new one. She separated them out as she counted it. I was worried she'd say half of it was worthless, but apparently they accept the old ones, but don't pay them back out again.

The change was in 2011 but the banks are still accepting them.  After a certain length of time you have to take them to the Bank of England.
Unlike coins, notes don't lose their status when withdrawn. (just no one will take them)

No, but it took us 3 or 4 years to get as far we did, so I'm not expecting to see it on the roads for a while yet.
