We had a package from the States in the post today. We've been joking with the guys at Jack's Autos in New Jersey that it would be like Christmas Day when Taz opened up all the boxes from the last big panel order. Unfortunately she was working so missed their arrival at the workshops, & the roof panel was slightly damaged, so it was more like Boxing Day, when you get to play with all the busted toys you got the day before. So Gail, the very nice parts orders lady we deal with, sent Taz their new catalogue, plus a couple of American muscle car magazine back issues, featuring her husband Jim's cars, (Jack's Autos is run by Gail, Jim & his brother ...Jack). She'd wrapped them in Christmas gift wrapping. John needs to fit the windscreen to check the roof alignment, so we may need to make another rush order from Jack's for the windscreen rubber & retaining clips.

Latest in a string of emails from the Yanky dudes:
Hi Andy and Tanya, I'm so glad Taz enjoyed her Christmas present. No, I don't need those magazines back. When Jim had his car in the magazines, he got a case of each one, so I have plenty still at home. I just thought you'd appreciate seeing how Jim, a person who owns a car restoration parts shop, does restore his own cars and knows the cars well. A lot of people have jobs, but don't "bring it home with them". He does and applies it to the hobby and his own cars. We have 2 other cars now, but they haven't been in magazines, a 1970 Lime Green Road Runner, with a convertible white top and white interior and a car Jim restored for our son -a 1970 Duster 340, red with a black vinyl roof and a matt black out hood. Also, had a 1970 Superbird, Lemon Twist color that we sold about 6 years ago, a stupid move on our part, as we miss that car very much. Regards, Gail

It is. Mind you, the large wads of cash we keep sending 'em probably help. Taz finally had a day off work today -her first for 5 or 6 weeks, so we spent it on a romantic visit to the car restoration shop. Andy the bodywork guy's started hanging the rear panels on. Everything's just pinned together with self tapping screws for the time being, while he trims away the old steel & checks the fit of the new.

New inner arches, ("tubs"). Andy's really pleased with the fit of the new "Auto Metal Direct" panels. Far superior to the "Year One" & "Sherman" panels they normally have to work with apparently.

The swage lines along the body line up really nicely. As there's 3 of them, running in different directions, they usually have to modify the new panels when they arrive to make things flow better. Less work for Andy means less pennies for us to pay out.
Safest place for the new roof skin for the time being is sat on top of the old one. With a layer of filler dust disguising the dents it doesn't look so bad!

The boot floor's fully spot-welded now -strong enough for Andy to stand in while he works on the rear quarters. John reckons there's maybe 100 Chargers in Britain. 101 now?

John took us down to the finishing shop to show us another customer's car. Very, very nice "JT40" GT40 replica, with big block Ford engine & Renault gearbox.

They're waiting for a new crate motor to arrive for this Chevy. A 383 small block. I love that colour!

And another of the fleet of '59 Caddys, all owned by the same guy. That's just plain greedy.
