I only have limited access to my back garden, down a narrow alley at the side of my house, so thought i`d have a shed/workshop in the front garden, cos i`m sick of gettin rained on when i pick up a spanner. Turns out that `any structure` at the front of a property requires planning permission and that involves a £150 fee to the local council peeps before they say yes or no!

Ok put a shed in the garden at the back right next to the back door and make that the front room, then change the front room into a garage. Knock out the front window and put in french doors. Who would ever know

I`m now thinkin of one of them `pop up` type gazebo`s. Not quite the same but at least it`ll keep my head dry. I do begrudge the fee a little, it would cost the same if i wanted to build a huge 1st floor extension with a double garage underneath.

You could put up a big gazebo then build a shed inside it so no-one would notice!

had my `first` response from the local council yesterday. The `site location plan` and the `block plan` are not to the correct scale, Althogh these were both downloaded from the councils own web site, and i need to provide ALL elevations and not just the 2 that i did, after all, it is a square shed, so must be impossible for them to image wot the other two sides look like!!!!!!
