these new lcd speedos i have are very easy to fit, so to demonstrate i thought i'd show the basic fitting of one which was not quite as straight forward.
the supplied 6 magnets that come with these usually fit on to or into if allen bolts holding the brake disc in place.
this trike which is a wk one owned by kingo and purchased from uk trikes, is fitted with an all aluminium twin leading shoe front brake, so no iron bolts to fit the magnets on.
on most motorcycles the first problem would not arise. although the speedo has a generous length of loom, the wk trikes leccy box and ignition are below the tank.
the speedo needs to be connected to a permanent live, a switchable live and an earth.
so first job was to add tails from the trikes leccy wires to couple up with the speedos loom.

you will notice t two multi plugs and a green wire on the speedos loom, the one plug goes to the speed sensor the other plug and green wire are for a fuel guage which is built into the speedo. this trike does not have a fuel sender system so they were not used.

the speedo is fitted onto the bars with the supplied rubber mounted bracket.
the speedo has a stainless steel case, which is a very good idea were we live.

as there are no disc bolts i had to drill part way through the drums rim and glued the magnet in using two part epoxy. i only used one magnet.

then the sensor and mounting bracket are fitted, ensuring the air gap between sensor and magnet is less than 8mm.

tidy up the installation a bit .
it look unobtrusive.

to calibrate it. you switch it to mph instead of kph, measure the circumference of the wheel and with the use of two buttons on the speedo, tell it that measurement. and thats all there is to it
