Hi Folks, a bit of bad news  when I tried to get home from work last night my beloved trike decided she wasn't going to take me, investigated (in the dark) & the 20A fuse to the engine had blown, replaced it, then it was only firing on two & three on the one coil, other coil was hot, got the Mrs to bring out a spare, replaced that but it was still misfiring. Could any1 give me any ideas as to what the problem could be, I'm hoping it's not the CDi unit that's blown. cheers Kev |

Could be the reg/rec going or gone?
Prolly best if you say a bit more about what engine it etc?

Could any1 give me any ideas as to what the problem could be, I'm hoping it's not the CDi unit that's blown. cheers Kev hi kev have you tried to find out why it blew the fuse ,ie bad earth broken earth or damaged live, do these have twin pick ups in engine case if so are one of these dirty damp dammaged ect..if its firing on 2and 3 but not 1and 4 try swapping coil wires to see if it still fires ie one that does not funtion if it works then you know coils are ok and its yer cdi ,p/s hope you resolve the problem cheerz gazz  |

Cheers Gaz, info helped, I've tried what you said and both coils are fine. So it looks like it is the cdi unit, I've just won one on ebay for £40, I should have it sorted by the end of the week. (fingers crossed) Kev

hi bikergran i'll check the reg/rec out 2 thanks,i've bin told that the xj650 cdi will work on the 900 engine, does any one know any different?

hi kev glad yer gettin it sorted you say xj6 is same as xj 9 check the cdi has same amount of wires and that they are colour coded the same and you should be good to go dude |

kev if you get stuck for bits ive got an xj 600 sat here its near mint but i cant ride anymore(long story)
its been stood 8 months so you can borrow bits of it if it helps you out
