Hee hee! So's your garage mate -knee deep in discarded trike bits now. Took the forks out this afternoon, (a bugger of a job on your own), then hacksawed the axle off the frame. Will make up new axle clamps tomorrow then start on new frame toobs. Yeah, post some piccies mate! Looked very clean & shiny last time I was in the shop -maybe I should've kept it! I'm hoping if I smile nicely at Yodie he'll make up a new page in the Motors section for each project so we can show them progressing from manky old bikes to...well, new Manky bikes!

Reg is the man with the lathe in his shed. Lives near you, (Southam), & has been to the shop I think. Belongs to the forum so PM him & tell him I sent you!

They must've been SOMEONE'S pride & joy but definitely not my taste. Rainbow's away, sunning herself in Crete for a week, so I binned 'em quick while she's gone! She's checked into the site though via an internet cafe & texted to say "What have you done to my trike"! Oops! Spent the afternoon after work today with a wire brush & big tin of Nitromors, stripping 20 years of oily road-crud off what's left of the frame.

Heh heh! Yeah, I'm beginning to think that too! Nah, would've been a lot of work to reproduce the engine cradle -the arse end's the easy bit. Just got in from work, so will slump in a heap on the sofa for a while then walk across town to the Manky garage to start making up the axle clamps & stuff.

Cheeky minx! It's like a lockable skip, that garage of yours! Knee deep in all manner of stuff. Some's bike related, some I can't even identify. Flap & I carted Rainbow's chassis -well, not HERS, her trike's, around to Ska Man's garage today to start reworking it, but the rest of the trike's still in a big heap in the garage. Hope I can remember which bits came from hers & which from your old Kwacka!

The front halves of the axle clamps. These will be welded to the frame then the other halves bolt up to them to hold the axle in place. The extra tabs are locating lugs that'll bolt to tabs on the axle itself. They'll stop the axle sliding sideways in the clamps or twisting.

Very pretty.
I'd like to be able to make things like that. I don't mean for myself, or cos I need them, but just for the satisfaction of making something good, and tidy, and useful.
