I had an interesting encounter earlier this evening.
Nipped out to take a bag of rubbish out to the bins & found 2 very large gentlemen in jeans & bomber jackets lurking in the communal hallway of my block of flats.
Do you know anything about that motorbike outside?
Err, no. It appeared about a week ago. Haven't seen it move since, but I did see someone riding it locally the day it turned up here.
So you don't know which flat it belongs to then?
No. Sorry.
Cos it's mine.

Large Gentleman number 1 said it'd been nicked from his place a week ago & he'd been tipped off it was here.
I'm glad I didn't know any more about it cos I think they'd turned up to have a quiet word with the miscreant who'd taken it.
Presumably it was pinched & dumped here. No-one would be daft enough to park a stolen bike outside their own front door, even in Basingstoke -would they?
A third large gentleman was waiting outside in a van & they loaded the bike up. I did say perhaps I ought to be asking for some sort of ID before they took it away, but number 1 said that's my van, with my company name on the side. Any problems, you know where to find me.
Fair enough. I wasn't going to argue with him, or his mates.
If they find out who took it I don't think they'll be bothering to call the Police.

Yeah, that did occur to me! The van was worth a damn sight more than the bike though, (a tatty old XJ Yam), & I doubt they'd have bothered hanging around to make themselves known to the residents.
