Gary sent me some shots of his reworked Harley trike suspension today. Here's what he said:
Hi Andy, decided to change from a hardtail. I'm going the more comfortable route and making myself an IRS suspension back end. It cost me £10 for a complete axle with brakes, £45 for steel plate and tube, £75 for bearing housings and bearings and a piece of nylon bar to make my bushes out of, £10 for nuts and bolts, brand new o ring 530 pitch chain from Ebay, £20. Grand total £160 and a pair of heavy duty shocks were donated by my young 'un. hopefully heres some pics if you can post this for me please.

Emailed in by Dynatrike: I've been and done a bit more today. Shortened the drive shafts and put it together to see how things line up. Wife told me today I smell of shed as I spend far too much time in there. Is there a market for such a product? A cologne, or deodorant maybe? Ha ha! Regards, Gary.

due to the angle of the shocks and the fact they are mounted direct, not controlled by linkages. you are going to need so serious spring rate, guessing 800 to 1000 lbs

Can you explain the linkages needed Wynne, for the benefit of those that like bouncy bits on their trikes.

linkages ?? just imitated on what i saw on most other trikes set ups and i have put an anti roll bar on lower arms to compensate side movement ,never known shocks to be on linkages ,its a new one to me ::)this uns done the same no linkage

Looks fine to me mate -but then I don't do bouncy butts. Strictly a hardtail guy. So much easier!
