Really?!
It's nice to get some feedback from time to time. I used to add write ups to every show photo gallery but we're doing so many this year I just haven't had the time. We did the Dorset steam fair last month -I've still got the opening paragraph for last year's stored on the computer! Always trying to encourage you lot to add your bit cos I think it makes it more interesting to read if there's some variety in the writing style -plus it saves me some work! Still waiting for your insider's view of the MAG shows by the way Rose!
Constructive criticism's always appreciated -more photos? More words? More vehicle write-ups? More techy stuff? I dunno. What do you want to see?

Actually my guess is they were checking to see if the hotrod/chopper show was still on today in Alton.  The amount of people that said to me today, ah yes I was checking your website earlier as I know a few events have been cancelled this year.  Amazing isn't it.

Mum and Dad came round last night, and a work colleague of Dads (Hello Clive) has been checking the website, he said he couldn't believe how many pages there were to read here.  And if he doesn't check daily then he gets way behind.

So all you David Baileys out there - get snapping  Grin

I check the statistics occasionally but they don't give the full picture. A lot of people check out the main site & never bother with the forum & vice versa. I do try to keep it evenly balanced between cars & bikes & trikes -a big hotrod show always attracts a lot of viewers to the photo gallery. Bike events tend to be smaller so attract less, but then I'll chat to someone at a bike show & they'll be chuffed to bits to have spotted a photo of themselves or their bike here.
I guess if you don't see what you like here the answer's to photograph or write about the stuff you do like & send it in!  Grin

One thing I forgot to mention earlier, a number of people today, told me that on checking the MMM website they spotted the hotrod/chopper show advertised.  Other than that they hadn't heard of its existence.

Did you get a flyer for this Manky, at the Executioners end of summer riot at the Ace?

Apparently Rick was saying also that the guy who organised this event - Roy? - will be advertising the next one here too.

A few suggestions off the top of my head for anyone out there who might feel the urge to put fingers to keyboard:

Any aspects of automobilia we're not covering? How about sports events? Superbike racing? Touring car racing? Speedway? Banger racing? Are you involved in any auto sport? Send in some pics. Write us an insider's view of an event.

Techy stuff. We've said from the start we ought to do some how-to articles. Everyone who works on their own machines will have a wealth of knowledge that they don't appreciate -normal garage procedures that you do week in, week out & assume everyone knows about. They don't. There's an army of newbies out there who haven't got a clue how to use basic garage tools. Anything from measuring, marking & cutting out a simple bracket, to building a chassis, drilling a hole & tapping a thread into it to advanced sheet metal work. If you know how to do it, why not impart that knowledge to the rest of us. None of us know so much we can't learn something new.

Mechanical fault finding. Any garage monkeys out there who can show us the most common problems on a bike or car? General maintenance to keep your machine on the road & safe. Or if it's too late for that, a selection of roadside bodges to get you home again.

What about annecdotes from the road? Your favourite journey? That trip with your mates from years ago that you still talk about. Memories of a favourite rally. Or a favourite bike or car -the one that broke down every time you went out on it, but still made you grin like an idiot.

Go to your favourite parts shop, have a chat with the guys who work there & send us a profile of their business. What services do they offer? Would you recommend them to the rest of us? Do they make a decent cup of coffee?!

Organisations. MAG, NSRA, BMF, NABD. If you're involved with one, why not tell us about it. Plug your association here for free!

Events. There's a million shows & rallies on all over the country & I tend to only list ones local to me. If you've got one you're looking forward to, bung the details in the Events list, then click the Link to Calendar button & add it to the Calendar -did you know we've got a calendar? The button for it's at the top of this page.

Vehicle write ups. Always looking for more of these. A lot of people promise they'll send something in then we never hear from them again. Doesn't have to be Shakespeare. If you or someone you know runs something you think would fit in here, take some snaps -give us a dozen to choose from, a couple of different angles, close ups of any unusual details & preferably one with the owner as well. Jot down some words, either just a basic spec list, detailing what parts were used & who did what, or as much as you want to write. Don't worry about grammar or punctuation, I can clean that up for you, just describe it as if you were talking to a mate who's not seen the vehicle before. Bikes, trikes, rods, classics, scooters, traction engines -anything & everything welcome.

Film reviews. I've added a couple on the main site. Auto films. If you've watched it & enjoyed it, tell us about it.

C'mon guys -get involved!  Grin

Can't remember Janie! I think he approached me at the Ace during the Executioners show & asked if we could list it. It was all organised very last minute so there wasn't much advertising. He gave me a flyer for his business, Hotrods & Choppers, but I had to go to their website to pick up the details of the show.
I'm glad it went so well -& look forward to seeing the photos!  Smiley
