Well today has been a nightmare. Been trying to get the trike done but I don't think it's gonna happen. We were at Marcus's today getting the Pop sorted so been in the shed since we got back and cose we are rushing, everything is going wrong I just wish I knew what I was doing more so I could do more but poor Andy is having to tutor me through most things. The Axle, 3 wheels and some kind of tubing will be at the show but probably not all able to be attached.

Things have just been absolutely manic here recently, so Taz's trike project literally hasn't been touched since we showed it at the Basingstoke show as a half built frame on it's 2 back wheels. I've been to the Uxbridge auto show today though & bought her a pressie while I was perusing the trade stalls. It's a stainless steel pistol grip handbrake lever. Why? Cos it was shiney & just a bit different, that's all. 30 quid.

Cos Taz would get jealous if I bought you pressies &, trust me, you wouldn't like her when she's angry. Same price as a decent bouquet of flowers & slightly more useful.

Ain't they lovely? I was going to get one of those when I was thinking about getting a trike built - just get the build done to suit the handbrake!

It was a toss up between buying it for Taz for her trike or for me for my Pop! Either way it was gonna get bought.

This evening I returned to Taz's trike frame. Took the wonky headstock back off & re-set it, then cut off the gearbox mounts & put them back on centrally, where they should have been to start with. We threw the frame together for the Basingstoke Transport Festival & under pressure at 2 in the morning before the show, started making all sorts of mistakes. Haven't had time to re-work it since.

Hmm, not sure if I've made progress or not in the shed this evening. Taz has been away for a week or so at one of her horse events, so I thought I'd try & get her basic frame together before she got back. Of course, I've put it off all week so ended up out in the shed till gone 11pm this evening, (she's just arrived home with a lorry full of ponies at gone midnight). So- I bent & trimmed the top tube & tacked it in place on the headstock. The headstock's quite low on this one so the top tube has to run horizontally to give us enough clearance to get the rocker cover on & off when required. Then I cut & tacked the two uprights either side of the gearbox. The top tube is much longer than my own trike to accomodate the dirty great 5 gallon "QuickBob" tank Taz chose, so the uprights are further back than mine, which should avoid the problems I had with the gearstick fouling the frame. Next I added the top tubes of the hardtail. Overall, the frame's the same length as mine, but because the top tube's longer, the tail end's much shorter & dumpier.
