Wheels dropped off & colour chosen. We took Taz's wheels to ProCoat in Newbury, Berks this afternoon. The proprieter is a Mr Aston Martin -yes, honestly. You couldn't hope to find a more helpful or enthusiastic guy. Shotblasting & powder-coating will be 30 quid per wheel. Oh & for those that like to know these things, the colour's number 7045, a gloss grey, slightly darker than primer grey.
We also stopped in at the local tyre depot. The biggest inner tube they stock is a 200/60/14 -too tall & too narrow. Their considered opinion though, was that tubeless would be safer. If a tubed tyre gets punctured it goes flat instantly, without warning. A tubeless goes down slowly, giving you time to wobble to safety. So tubeless it is.
Last stop was A & C Shotblasting, also in Newbury. We use them for all the smaller, plain colour parts. The finish is a little more industrial but it's cheap & quick. A 2 foot square box of assorted trike parts, both Taz's & mine, shotblasted & coated in gloss black, 20 quid. Bargain. Check the Links for Commercial Purposes section of the forum for phone numbers & tell 'em we sent you.  Wink

andy if your worried about sealing your rims have you thought of using ultraseal  its a permanent pucture repair additive it will seal holes up to 5mm its the only stuff on the market that does what it says on the tin! it aint cheap but it,ll do the job and give you piece of mind.

Not so much worried Toady, as checking to see what the accepted method is.
Someone told me they painted the inside of the rims with a sealant before putting the tyre on, but the guy we took the wheels to for banding told us he's just powder-coated his own wheels & that was enough to seal any pin holes in the weld. As they're for the missus' trike though, I think I'll err on the side of caution & use a sealant of some description.

This grey only had a number. Aircraft grey was on the list. There was about 20 different shades of grey to choose from.

We looked at various Fergies at agricultural shows last year & there weren't two in the same shade. Obviously everyone just paints 'em whatever grey they fancy, which is what we're doing. Just yer average run o' the mill mid grey, a bit darker than primer & in gloss so it doesn't look like a half finished paint job. Smiley

Hello Nige! Nice to see you back Sir.  Wink How's the Blue Job rebuild going? Is Simon's back on the road yet? Cos I'd like to take some photos of it -his hasn't been featured here yet.
As far as Taz's goes, we're going for the agricultural theme but trying to keep it as lightweight as all the others. I don't want it to look too masculine, but Taz definitely ain't a "girly" girl, so pink's definitely out! It's got to hold it's own when lined up next to all the blokes' ones.
I'm talking to FLC at the moment about making a set of short girder forks for it, plus Madron about a chunky VMax wheel for the front, (a near perfect match for the Moggy rears). I'll run the speedo off the gearbox, so no cables at the front, & we'll use copper pipe for all the brake lines. Everything will be grey, black or polished ally.
