Been in the shed a bit this morning. I managed to remove what was left of the bearings on the drive shafts, so they are done now. I also had a go at the axle with removing and grinding down un-wanted bits on it but in the process I think I've killed the disc cutter as it died on me. Oooopsie.

Right back on track now. Manky bought me a grinder while I was away, so today I got rid of all the un-wanted brackets on the axle.

We also stopped by at North Hants Tyres and spoke to someone about Steel Smoothies. To get them in deep dish they have to be reversed, so the cost of buying the rims, reversing them and fitting tyres wouldn't leave me much change from £500. Think we can forget that idea then. So we are not sure what to do now. We have the BMW wheels, (or 8 spoke Wellas), for the back and various front wheels. When we get them all together in one place we will post a picture with all the wheels and see what you lot think about what matches what best.

I'm not going to take pictures of the gouged bits am I I have a good instructor. He, (Manky), started me off with part worn flap wheels as they are not as viscious and do less damage. I can now use a brand new grinding disc all by myself.

Tazet,
Nothing wrong with flap wheels, 'softly softly catchee monkey' as they say!
To your wheel dilemma, just decided that I would sell the wheels you see in the pic of my build if you're interested? You see I bought four and was gonna keep them ones for my next project which means they will sit around getting in the way for ever and end up not being used, so selling to a fellow trike rider would make more sense. You'd have to have adapters made but, as you can see, that's not difficult. The tyres are no good either, £65 each new.

We need something that's going to be roughly 24 inches overall diameter to keep the gearing about right. Can you post another pic of one of the wheels so we can see the actual pattern please.

These are the two for mine, the others are the same except they are silver painted and not polished.
