Well today PD very kindly had a bash at my axle with his slide hammer and eventually after a lot of whacking the shaft came out. Yey. Thank you PD, you're forgiven for my garden fork which you broke  Grin.
Later Manky and I drove to Brock's workshop in Wiltshire and he stuck the shafts in the 12 ton hydraulic press but the little buggers still wouldn't shift. He even used the oxy-acetaline torch but they wouldn't come apart. Unfortunately the drum brake back plates I was trying to save for Dave Satan are well and truly buggered and one of the bearings shattered in the press.
-Oh well, we'll take them to the Tech College on Wednesday as they have a press thats a little bigger.

Tazzie & I have been carting those damned driveshafts around in the boot of her car for a couple of weeks now, calling in at every workshop we can think of in the hope that someone will eventually manage to pull the hubs & bearings off.
Still no luck. They're a taper fit on the end of the shaft but shouldn't be that hard to shift.
Today's attempt was at a Basingstoke garage. They put 'em on a 15 ton hyrdaulic press & still couldn't move 'em. Bugger. Running out of ideas now.
I've got a spare pair of shafts but need the hubs. Beginning to wonder if it'd be worth cutting them off & having the remains of the shafts drilled out.

Bring them on sunday. We can put the oxy acetalene on them and batter them for a bit and see if that works!

Tried a torch on 'em at Brock's place, but yeah, why not. Have you got a grinder with cutting discs? If we can't get them apart we may as well cut the shafts off below the hubs.
Sunday looks like being O.K weather-wise Loony, so nice & early at your place to start Pop dismembering.
