Thanks PH. Is the mrs ok with that? Don't forget you have to be able to get the thing out when it's done. My trike won't actually fit through the shed doors so we're going to have to pull it apart when it's done.

The trike, not the shed. Actually, more likely to be the shed.
Planning a new improved super dooper shed/trike barn once all the projects are sorted -so should be just in time for my retirement.
As you probably know, Taz & I live in a cottage on the country estate of Lord Onslow in Surrey. Lordy doesn't own the big house here any more, it was handed over to the National Trust in lieu of death duties when his father died. It's now open to the public, along with a nice little garden centre & pet shop.
We were in the garden centre last night & came across this mock Victorian boot scraper thingy. 13 quid. Taz has wanted a scraper for a while cos she works with horses all day & the kitchen's always awash with mud -at least I hope it's mud. We use snooker/pool balls for the hand gearchanges on our trikes, cos they're a good size for handling with gloved hands & come in a variety of colours. Obviously haven't been able to find a grey one to go with the planned paintjob on her trike though. So she got the scraper & I got the grey marbled gear knob.  Smiley

My thoughts exactly. Shame the rod wasn't a bigger diameter -it'd be too bendy for a gearchange. Twisted's going to machine us a collar to screw the knob onto, that will then get welded to the gearstick when it's done. We'll use 1/2" round bar.
The rod was about 2 feet long, but the box the whole thing came in was only a foot tall. Baffled me till we got it home. The rod's actually in 2 halves which screw together. Seems a lot of machining work to save a bit on a bigger box.

i have been useing transit gearlevers for ages tried 1/2"round bar but it bounced allover the taper on the transit stops that i just cut and bend to suit and weld to bottom of reliant gearstick works a treat and it might have the right thread for your marbled gear knob

What does a Tranny gearstick look like Ron? Ours have an S bend in them to clear the frame, so half inch round works quite well.

Lord Manky asked me to make an adaptor for Taz's gear knob, so here it is for approval before I send it back.

Is this ok Andy?

mk 1,2&3 transit pinto engined gear levers are 28"long 5/8" at bottom and 1/2"a top with a 3/8"thread dont know ptch off hand but i find em ideal as the taper stops any bounce like i had with round bar i just use from the top down to where i need it bend to suit then weld to original gearlever stub (previuosly cut down) and bobs ya mother

I picked up an aluminium luggage rack for a fiver at the Kempton Park autojumble on Saturday. The guy who made it intended it for a Kawasaki Eliminator, but it should look O.K tacked on the back of a Reliant.
