Next stop was Madron's place in Doncaster.
Again, nice people. Not sure about his collection of snakes & reptiles myself but Taz loved 'em -yet she's terrified of spiders. Odd.
We didn't need to check the house number when we arrived; it was fairly obvious -the one with the half built trike buried in the nettles in the front garden!
A super-low Reliant, with stretched tank & the same 5 spoke alloys I've got on mine. Some complicated framework at the back, but I think this could be a lovely looking thing when it's done.

Wandering through the workshop & out into the back garden was a revelation. The place is literally stuffed to the rafters with engines, frames, wheels, piles of shocks, clocks, forks -you name it & Ron's probably got 6 of 'em.
A couple of nice little hardtails.

Here's an unexpected blast from the past- anyone remember "Jam Roller"? One of the top show cars from the 70s. A Standard 10 I think. I remember seeing this in magazines & at indoor custom shows when I was first getting into the vehicle scene as a tender 15 or 16 year old school boy.
Ron's just bought it & plans to restore it to it's former glory. There's a big trend at the moment for resurrecting old race & custom cars, so it'd be great to see this rolling again.

Next to the sedan was a T bucket body, Ron's own version of a model A pick up cab, "Roller's chassis, a T chassis, a V12 motor, a V6 trike, a Reliant motor, tot rods, go carts. It was like wandering around ScrapHeap Challenge. In all he thinks he's got 28 different projects on the go!

What was this from Ron? You told me but I forgot. A diff unit from an old 3 wheeler, bought for a tenner. A chain driven diff. Very tidy & worth a fortune.

Ron's trade is fibreglassing. He's been in the business since he was 15 & seems able to create just about anything in 'glass. One outhouse was stuffed full of trike mudguards in every style you could think of. Bike mudguards, totrod bodies, T bucket bodies, some cool pointy headlight shells, (any use for the 2CV thingy Shaun? Or Lunatic's Volksrod?), race-car seats, fairings -anything you could take a mould from he can make. He even knocked up a sled for his kids when it snowed recently.
We didn't turn up intending to go shopping but couldn't resist picking up one of these while we were there. A fibreglass Harley 45 style seat base. We'd planned to use the tractor seat donated by Twisted Patience on Taz's trike, but it'd need cutting about to work really. Ron sold us one of these for a tenner. Bargain. I'd run it just as it is, but we might have it upholstered for Taz's benefit with a very thin layer of foam & a black vinyl cover.
We also picked one up for Postie Dave, for his Honda Shadow bobber project, as well as a bobber rear mudguard for 15 quid. We also nabbed a small bike radiator of unknown origins so we can use the electric fan on Taz's trike. If you need anything in fibreglass, give Ron a PM & tell him we recommended him.  Wink
So we had a very pleasant weekend break, staying overnight in a Travel Inn near Sheffield, & came home with the car loaded up with goodies. Many thanks for the cuppas & parts Mick & Ron. You're both true gents. Grin
