I picked up a leaflet for these guys in my local tool shop the other day. Might be useful to someone.

"CC's Ultrasonic Carburettor Cleaning".
www.carbcleaning.com
Chris Clayden 05602-051339

To quote their flyer:

Ultrasonic cleaning is the process of complete removal of a wide variety of contaminants from objects such as carburettors, using high frequency sound waves. These non-audible sound waves create a scrubbing brush action to effectively remove scale from carbs. Removes stale fuel residue, unleaded petrol deposits, sediments, grease & many other substances.

As an example, cleaning a single motorcycle carb will cost £22.50 + VAT.

That's not bad is it?  Even a four would cost less than £100.  Hm.

Interesting info – checked their website and was interested to see they do vapour blasting, can't say I know of any local to the Guildford area (dare say someone will prove how ignorant I am on that....)

On the subject of Ultrasonic Cleaners – I play with these a bit at work (and sorry, no I can squeeze the odd home widget in! not even my own!!), and although not wanting to take business away from these guys,  I had a quick look on the web from a scientific company to get an idea of price and although not cheap, maybe a bunch of mates (monkeys) might consider pooling some dosh?
This particular one comes in at just under £500 (not cheap, but do the maths).

LINK REMOVED AS SUSPECT (tho OK for me using AVG protection) BUT BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY - THANKS SIMON

HERE'S A NEW ONE   http://www.fisher.co.uk/   then type in "142-6001" ino the site's 'Search' box (top left)

USC300T, 2.80 Litre,  237mmx134mmx100mm Internal dimensions, 160Watt, cat ID 142-6001

Some cleaning solvents might need to be bought, depends on what needs to be cleaned, but apart from that, it just a bit of lekky.

If anyone decides to buy/use one, there’s a big NO NO (elf n safety wise) Don't put your hand/fingers in the solution when its on. I've heard it reported that it can cause air bubbles in the bloodstream with potentially fatal consequences. Undecided

On that cheery note..............

Just as a matter of interest, why are they binned after a short period?
