Any one know where I can find out about Ford Model A repro pickup beds?. I'm after one for the Pop or at least a Tailgate with the embossed Ford logo.

I'll check with Brock -he knows that kind of stuff. Not going for the wooden bed now then? I'm glad. Steel or 'glass would look much more stylish & what I'll go for too -if I pickup mine.
How about producing a wooden buck & beating a sheet of steel or ali over it?

Have a look at bay area rods volksrod pickup. The bed on that was made from scratch I think. Doesnt look too hard to do.

I should be going up to photograph that pickup soon so will have a good look then.
What do you mean
IF
you pickup yours Andy? you know its what you want and will you be REALLY happy with it any other way? I know I wouldn't as POp's are prentiful on the rod scene but not many pickups.

Think I've been more worried about the paperwork side of things. I figured if I kept the body completely stock & ran a 50s motor I wouldn't attract too much attention at MOT time. I like the idea of a totally stripped, bare bones stocker -almost as it is now, with just glass & an engine fitted, but yeah, a pick-up's always been my ideal.

I think the problems with the paper work comes with changes to the running gear and not the body but I may be wrong.
I have been talking to guys who are using Reliant Scimitar rolling chassis fitted with Hotrod bodies as this avoids the SVA, so if that is correct you will have more hassle from a sharp eyed MOT man for fitting sherpa axles than for converting a saloon into a pickup, but as I say I may be wrong

Sherpa front beam with 50s Ford Consul rear. Got the axle & half the engine, plus most of the gearbox, sat in my lockup now. Another problem -can't find any numbers on the motor!
