Stirling Moss MBE - an actual legend

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stirling_Moss

In the relatively recent past, Stirling was often seen competing at Goodwood Revival.
Photo is of Stirling and Denis (Jenks) Jenkinson at Goodwood Festival (prob 1995) in their 1955 Mille Miglia winning Mercedes 300SLR. The number 722 indicates that they departed the start at 7.22.

Last year (2019), there was a celebration of Stirling’s 90’s birthday, Stirling wasn't well and therefore unable to attend, but his wife Susie was there, and was driven around the parade by Lord March to the applause of the spectators. A moving tribute indeed...……...

After cheating death so many times during his career, he died peacefully in his sleep.
His wife said:
He just did one lap too many & simply closed his eyes.

That's a lovely way to put it.  Cool

Just checked the archives and in June 2010, Chevy Rick and I visited the Haynes Museum. Part of what I wrote at the time was:

"Another exhibit - again small but very detailed - was a section dedicated to Stirling Moss and it listed every car he had raced.  They also provided a small model of each car detailing when he raced it and quotes from him saying what he thought of each vehicle.  Again, I could have spent ages just looking at that exhibit."

Sir Stirling Craufurd Moss, OBE, a great character whose contribution to the world of motor racing is without question.  Cool

Another of those characters that just personified Britishness. We need more like him.
