Something for the General Tech - GPS Speedometers

Just in case folk weren’t aware of these, if you do a web search for “GPS Speedometers” a whole host of various options will be before you.....

Saves sorting out any form of drive mechanism, and will continue to ‘work’ when fitting wheels with different diameters.

Pics of some ‘traditionally’ styled options

They are great and generally more accurate than mechanical speedometers as these vary due to tire wear etc and which usually have a small amount of over read built in.
BUT, remember that they are not legal for use as the only speedometer in/on a vehicle.

Some driving schools have started using GPS based speedometers on the 'passenger' instructor side and sat navs have a built in speedo hence the 'only speedometer' comment. As long as a GPS speedometer has a non re settable mileage counter then I doubt you will have problems with MOT or Police, but .....

Had a GPS speedo on the Trike since April seems ok but cant turn it off as if I do it takes about 10 mins to connect to GPS satellites and as my daily jog to work take between 3 and 10 mins its not much use if I do.
Another point is altho it has a fixed mileage after 9.999 it starts again and there's no trip meter apart from that its great.
