Hi all, after 6 years in the UK freezing my bits off we came home to the sun. Couldn't make our mind up where to live so we did whats called "The Lap" , took us 12 months and around 36,000 klms { only around the coast , doing inland another time ].

Hope you are all well .

yes , we only traveled around 4 to 5 hours a day as towing the van {2 tonne ] is taxing . This is the best way to see Australia as everthing is soooo far apart . My wife said she would never cross the Nullabor  again by road . The price of diesel can be bad in remote areas ,$2.20 a litre in some places and using 12 to 15 litres per 100 klm  .

What are the roads like? I always imagine Oz to be deserted & a desert. Are there many other people about or do you go all day without seeing anyone?

Hahaha , as for the roads mostly crappy bumpy and sealed . you still cant drive from Cains in Nth Queensland to Darwin without going on dirt . And yes some times might be hours before  you see another car . But a lot of what we call grey nomads who are on the road permanently due to different reasons , and its winter so a lot of elderly folk head north for the sun so hundreds of caravans on the move constantly . I live about 3 hours nth of Sydney and its around 10 deg at night and up to 18 during the day , last year at this time we were in the Darwin and was 30's during the day , should have been there this year but the van is in being re sheeted as we got caught in a hail storm [ $23,000 in damages] so freezing our bits off at the moment lol . The pics are from a place called Horizontal falls in the northern most part of WA and you can only get there by sea plane  , the high to low tide is a 11 metre change and it happens fast . the boat has 900 hp on it .

I see you having a good summer for a change !! hope it lasts
