Certain beaches in the UK were used for speed trials/record attempts as well as roundy roundy racing back in the day, Pendine probably being the most weel known.

Saltburn Sands were used for land speed record attempts between 1906 & 1937 and another venue, Southport Sands (nr Liverpool), also had Record Attempts (in fact, in March 1926 saw Seagrave grab the record in his Sunbeam Tiger Ladybird).

Would be rather good if these venues could again be used for speed events for historic vehicles, along the lines of recent Pendine events.................  Cool
