Rothenbourg is part of the “romantic road” which is the medieval / fairytale ones, so supposed to be a good trip. They’re a bit dark though history wise - pretty much murdering witches left right and centre.  Went to lake bled today. Fun fact about Slovenia - every road is a mountain road, so very fun to drive, but takes HOURS to get anywhere. Bled from the apartment is 24 miles as the crow flies, but took 2.5 hours to drive there. Very pretty, very tourist hell. Went to a gorge down the road on the way back. It has the walkways and bridges all made from wood criss crossing all the way down.  Near on 3 hours to get back which included having to reverse along a sheer drop off the mountain due to the driver missing a turn and ending up in an old Slovenian ladies “farm” |

Very pretty. Can't believe 2.5 hrs to go 24 miles. That must have been a heck of a lot of hairpin bends. Don't think I would cope. I found it bad enough driving over the Welsh mountains from Llanidloes to Aberystwyth! Don't like sheer drops. I would have got out while the driver reversed.  |

Yeah, unfortunately I was the driver  Reason we’re over is for a festival - punk rock holiday Best thing about it -  Is it’s on the river - it’s hitting 33/34 degrees here at the moment, so fresh clear water in the mountains to swim about in is a godsend. |

My younger daughter just spent a week in Slovenia paddleboarding (It's what she does, her hobby AND her job) - paddling all those lovely lakes and gorges!

Oh don’t worry about them, that’s just by the beach stage, behind them is another mile or so of private little shady areas to get in. Very jealous of her Bobbi, all the rivers we’re crossing here look amazing. But if you do want sparse with no people and great views with fun roads Andy I do recommend it here Slovenia population = approx 2 million people supposedly and is 20000 square km (approx) The other thing that is quite amusing is on the really windy roads they have signs targeted at motorcyclists which are of a character falling off a bike and for how many km’s You’ll potentially be crashing for |
