If you're old enough to remember the CB radio craze you might recall that Basingstoke's "handle" was Doughnut City. Apparently we had the highest number of roundabouts per head of population in the country.
Well, just to disprove all that FaceBook rubbish about councils banning displays of English flags, the local council have painted all the mini roundabouts in the town -& there are a lot of 'em -with the cross of St George to mark the World Cup, (apparently something to do with football).
Presumably some council worker's on standby to scrub them all clean again when we lose Smiley

Genital City!  Roll Eyes  Cheesy

I have to say Andy, that particular mini roundabout looks pretty pathetic. I hope they did a better job with the others. Are you sure it wasn't just a football fan with some red paint and a really gnarly paintbrush?  Grin

Anyway, I thought Milton Keynes had the most roundabouts. Well it definitely felt like it when I visited there once. I was nearly dizzy!  Smiley

Basingstoke Council even rent out roundabouts !
"With over 40 roundabouts to choose from - all priced competitively according to location and traffic volume, there is one to suit any marketing budget."

Well Milton Keynes might do that Olds, because their number of roundabouts is growing all the time! See below.  Grin

"... And finally, the five UK cities with the most roundabouts are Milton Keynes, East Kilbride, Swindon, Basingstoke and Cwmbran. Milton Keynes has 130 roundabouts but the number is growing all the time."
